About Akshardham : Akshardham temple, also known as Swaminarayan Akshardham, is the latest jewel in Delhi tourism, which opened for tourists on 6th November 2005.
The original temple is located in Gujarat, Gandhinagar area, built in 1992, which gave inspiration to the new Akshardham in Delhi, located on the banks of river Yamuna, near the 2010 Commonwealth Games Village. Both the temples are built by the same religious organization, Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. The building is an exquisite piece of art, and it is carved out of stone. Illustrating various life events and teachings of Swaminarayan, the temple has been named after one of the beliefs of Swaminarayan Hinduism.
Eat : If you are really short on time and would like to eat some traditional, pure vegetrain temple food, have a meal at the Food court, Premvati Uphargruha, at Akshardham.
